Pediatric Femoral Neck Fractures: Our Institutional Experience of 5 Years

Abstract Introduction Pediatric femoral neck fractures remain an enigma for orthopaedics, especially with regard to the development of avascular necrosis (AVN). These rare are fraught complications including non-union, coxa vara, premature physeal closure, and AVN. Aggressive urgent management is required limit complications. We aim share our institutional experience 10 such cases, spanning over a period 5 years by analyzing radiological clinical outcomes after anatomical reduction internal fixation. Materials Methods Ten children, aged < 16 fractured femur, treated in hospital minimum follow-up 1 year, were retrospectively reviewed following fixation analyzed. Written informed consent was taken from parents children included study. Results The mean age 9.6 years. In total, 60% cases boys 50% due road traffic accidents (RTA). Furthermore, Delbet type II pattern, 30% III, 20% IV. All patients final outcome good 80% fair cases. encountered only one case AVN series. Conclusion Aggressive, stable modality treatment. influenced AVN, limb length discrepancy, every attempt should be made prevent them.
